Battlefield: Bad Company Announced

Electronic Arts and Digital Illusions today announced that
the next console game in the Battlefield series will be released in 2007 for
the Xbox 360 and PS3 (rumor has it in the spring). The environments in Battlefield:
Bad Company will be 90% destructible in both single player and multiplayer. The
September issue of Game Informer magazine has an early preview of the game.

Nelson has posted on his blog, a list of the most popular Xbox Live games
for last week. For the Xbox 360, the rank order is Call of Duty 2, Ghost Recon:
Advanced Warfighter, and then Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. (The Elder Scrolls
IV: Oblivion comes in at number 3, but is single player only.) On the original
Xbox, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat is the most popular online game, after Halo

GameSpot Battlefield 360 Competition Results

Gamespot's Battlefield
360 competition concluded today with a final match featuring Army 101 Charlie
and TGB. TGB won the match to take the grand winning prize. Review the results

the upcoming Battlefield 2142 game, leading to speculation that the title may
be released for the Xbox 360. That seems very unlikely since the game is purported

Xbox Live Maintenance Downtime

site) will be unavailable between 2 AM and 3 PM PST on Tuesday May 2nd for

Official Xbox Magazine Review

The June issue of the Official Xbox Magazine will award the Xbox 360 edition
of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat a 7/10 score. With virtually all of the reviews
now in, Battlefield has earned a respectable 78% rating at GameRankings,
a score that is virtually identical to that earned by the Xbox edition of the
game.

In Game Boosting - EA's Response

Wilco Wietsma, a Battlefield 360 reader, has contacted EA technical support about
the increasing number of players who are boosting (i.e.
score cheating) when playing Battlefield. Here is EA's response: "As for the scoring glitch, this
issue has been noted by our in-game support group and now that they have the
appropriate tools, will begin taking action against those players who have used
this exploit during gameplay. This will take some time for each account to be
reviewed and actioned, but it will be done." Tracking down these miscreants
shouldn't be too difficult. Their overall scores will be high, but their broken
down stats (e.g. total kills) will be low.

Horrible Killer. The movies showcase continuous battlefield action
which gives a good sense of the variety of play.

We have confirmed through Random House, the parent company of Prima Games, that
there will be no Xbox 360 strategy guide released for Battlefield 2:
Modern Combat. This comes as a surprise given the changes in store for the single
player campaign and the addition of three new multiplayer maps.
